Continuing work to clear both the north and west pastures. I use the ‘Hack & Squirt’ method of tree killing instead of girdling mostly to preserve the strength of the tree longer. When you girdle a tree, there is a very good chance a good wind will break the tree at the point girdle. We got tons of those last year and they continue this year.

In addition to the Hack & Squirt, I brushwhacked the rock road (about 1/4 mile), then brushwhacked small trees, brambles, and gooseberries in both pastures. I wrapped up the day hacking and squirting in the south end of the west pasture. Long day, and quite a few more to come, but it’s nice to get out and work after a long winter!
